Below is an introduction to an undergraduate architecture project. 15 different conditions were compiled to showcase site context in order to understand the area on a deeper level.
But why not take all of this information and make it look cool?
SEATTLE SITE CONTEXT
This collaged map was designed to show the original neighborhood footprint of Brooklyn, a black neighborhood in Charlotte’s 3rd ward. In the 1970s, the construction of Highway 277 destroyed the area, leaving little to no room for recovery. In my opinion, this senseless act of urban renewal completely wiped off a thriving community that could have been helped back to life. The same federal funding money given to the construction project could have been allocated to repairs and necessary infrastructure improvements; but at the end of the day, the money fed a racist agenda instead.
